Author Interview
* Which of your characters is most like you?
Honestly, no one in A LITTLE TOO MUCH. In the series, it would be Sam, who’s Lexie’s best friend from A LITTLE TOO FAR. She gets her own book in A LITTLE TOO HOT, which releases in January.
* Which of your characters would you have the most fun hanging out with back in your college age days?
Hilary’s friend Jess would have been super fun to hang out with. She’s a little bit crazy.
* Do you create playlists for your books? If so, what’s one of your favorite songs you have for ALTM?
All my books include the main musical inspiration in the acknowledgements. Hilary and Alessandro are very complex characters, and there are several songs that shaped them, but the one that most embodies Hilary is Pink’s “Just Give Me a Reason.” Alessandro evolves over the course of the first two books in this series, but his song throughout is Creed’s “My Sacrifice,” which Hilary chooses as his ringtone.
* Can you tell us what you’re working on next?
I just finished final revisions for book three in the A LITTLE TOO FAR series, A LITTLE TOO HOT, which is Sam’s story (Lexie’s best friend from ALTF), and I’ve started on Lexie’s other best friend Katie’s story as well as Abby’s, who hung out with Lexie in Rome.
* To date, who’s been your most challenging character to write?
Alessandro. He’s very private and incredibly complex, with layers that run so deep I’m pretty sure he’s not showing me half of them.
Meet Lisa Desrochers
Lisa Desrochers lives in northern California with her husband, two very busy daughters, and Shini the tarantula. If you’d told her five years ago she’d write a book, she’d have laughed in your face. As it turns out, she’d owe you an apology. Writing has become an addiction for Lisa and A Little Too Far, courtesy of HarperCollins, is her first novel for adults. She is also the author of the young adult Personal Demons trilogy from Macmillan. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, and she adores stories that take her to new places, and then take her by surprise.
