I really enjoyed this sweet and all-encompassing love story. Tripp and Wrynn have been inseparable since childhood, and their friendship developed into an enduring love. This story focuses on Wrynn’s life after losing her great love, and her struggle to raise her three daughters alone.
Kathryn makes sure that we get the depth of their love, even though the story takes place after Tripp is gone. She weaves this story between the present and the past, skillfully telling this epic tale of friendship and love. From the time they meet on a tire swing, to their blossoming love in school, to their marriage and Tripp’s military career, I was truly immersed in their story.
Every day is a struggle for Wrynn once she loses Tripp, and dealing with the mother-in-law from Hell doesn’t help matters much. Thankfully, her twin brother Liam has moved into Wrynn’s home, and he’s a great source of support for her family. Even so, she’s barely coping, and her grief is made all the more real for the reader by going back in time and reliving important milestones in their love story.
Tripp is definitely one of the sweetest, most loving Heroes I’ve read in quite some time. His love for Wrynn was so powerful, so absolute, it was almost a tangible thing. I can’t lie, I was a little angry that he was robbed of a long and happy life with Wrynn and their girls. It was so unfair!
The ending had me so drawn in, I actually ended up finishing this book in my car while in a parking lot! The only criticism I would have about this book would be that I would have liked the ending to be fleshed out a little but. Kathryn wrapped it up nicely, but I’m greedy and I wanted more!
Kathryn has said that we’ll be getting Liam’s story in the future, which is very exciting to me, as there were definitely some unanswered questions for him in this book! All in all, I’d have to say that this was a wonderful novel from a debut author, and I’m truly glad I got the chance to read it.
